Stirring Up Smiles, Stories, and Family Memories!

On the afternoon of Saturday, August 1, families at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta – Lawrenceville Back-to-School Event left with more than school supplies—they left with opportunities to create lasting memories together.

We were delighted to place copies of What's Stirring: Fun, Food, and Family, the first book in the What's Stirring cookbook series, into the hands of 15 wonderful families.

This special cookbook giveaway was made possible through the generous sponsorship of United Bankshares, whose commitment to strengthening children, families, and the local community is making a meaningful difference. Because of their generosity, up to 30 families will receive cookbooks, with the remaining books being distributed during a family engagement event this September in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club. We look forward to sharing more once Executive Director Ms. Krystal announces the date.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was hearing parents say how excited they were to cook the recipes with their children. Families with children from the primary grades through high school recognized that this cookbook is about much more than preparing food. It encourages families to read together, cook together, learn together, and enjoy meaningful conversations around the table.

Several children excitedly shared, "I remember making some of these recipes with you during Cooking Club!" Those comments were especially heartwarming because they reminded us that hands-on learning creates lasting memories. Seeing those same children proudly take home the cookbook to recreate the recipes with their families made the day even more special.

We are sincerely grateful to the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta – Lawrenceville for partnering with us to bring this opportunity to local families and to United Bankshares for investing in experiences that strengthen families beyond the classroom.
