What happens when young people are trusted to plan and host a literacy festival?
You see leadership in action.
The inaugural Literacy Festival—developed by The Arrow Youth Leadership Council International, the Gladys S. Dennard Library, and the South Fulton Teen Advisory Board—is a powerful example of youth ownership, creativity, and vision. Centered on the theme “Words Can Take You Anywhere,” this student-led event reminds us that young voices deserve real platforms.
A Literacy Experience for the Whole Family
Families who attend will experience:
Youth author presentations
Reader’s theater
Interactive literacy activities
A live cooking demonstration
A hands-on no-bake recipe families complete together
At What’s Stirring Family Foundation, we believe literacy should be lived—not just learned. When families read together, cook together, and create together, learning becomes joyful, memorable, and deeply connecting.
Youth Authors. Real Leadership.
Daniel and Alonna Moore, authors of the What’s Stirring: Fun, Food, & Family cookbook series—including The Healthy Way—are honored to participate alongside other local youth authors. Their third book will release in May.
Through writing, presenting, and leading demonstrations, they are developing communication, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills—proving that when youth are supported, their gifts become impact.
Why Showing Up Matters
When communities support youth-led initiatives, we build more than events—we build confident leaders, engaged families, and stronger neighborhoods.
Investing in youth voices today creates opportunity tomorrow.
We invite families, educators, and community partners to celebrate literacy, leadership, and creativity in action.
Because words can take you anywhere—but only when young people are empowered to use them.
