We are excited to share two meaningful literacy grant awards that will help expand family learning, storytelling, mentorship, and community engagement through collaborative partnerships in Georgia.
The Henry County Library System was awarded a Dollar General Summer Literacy Grant in the amount of $3,000 for the initiative:

Unearth the Story
This program was designed to support engaging summer literacy experiences that encourage children and families to connect through storytelling, creativity, and interactive learning opportunities.
In addition, the Spalding County Collaborative Authority for Families and Children was awarded a Dollar General Family Literacy Grant in the amount of $10,000 for the initiative:

Mentors and Scholars at the Table
This project focuses on strengthening family literacy, mentorship, and educational engagement through relationship-centered learning experiences designed to support both students and families.
As the Literacy Strategist at Tectonic Village, I had the opportunity to design both programs. The time, thoughtful planning, collaboration, and commitment invested in these initiatives have already begun opening doors for innovative community learning experiences that we believe will create meaningful impact for children and families.
The What’s Stirring Family Foundation will support both initiatives this summer by providing literacy experiences at two Henry County Library locations in McDonough and Stockbridge. These experiences will combine literacy, creativity, and family engagement in ways that make learning interactive and memorable.
Additionally, through the Mentors and Scholars at the Table initiative, we will partner with Dr. Jametria Floyd, founder of Divine Reach Education & Counsel, to provide a pilot literacy and mentoring experience at a selected elementary school. Dr. Floyd will lead the mentoring component of the initiative, while What’s Stirring Family Foundation will lead the literacy and cooking experience portion as part of an innovative, family-centered educational model.
These awards represent more than funding — they reflect a growing commitment to expanding literacy into engaging, community-centered spaces where families can learn together in meaningful ways.
A special thank you to the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for investing in literacy, families, and community-based educational innovation.
The work continues, and we look forward to seeing these programs create lasting impact in the community.
— Dr. Daneell Moore, Literacy Strategist, Tectonic Village
