Cooking Up Literacy Is Coming to Snellville This Summer!

Families in Gwinnett County are invited to stir up fun, learning, and togetherness this summer at Cooking Up Literacy, a free hands-on family experience hosted at the Gwinnett Community Resource Center at Bethany Church Road in Snellville.

This exciting program combines the joy of cooking with the power of literacy, creating memorable moments for children, parents, grandparents, and caregivers alike. Each session will feature a family-friendly recipe while blending reading, nutrition education, creativity, and interactive learning in a warm and welcoming environment.

More Than a Cooking Class

Cooking Up Literacy is designed to bring families together through shared experiences that inspire learning and connection. Participants can look forward to:

Interactive reader’s theater performances
Singing, laughter, and group participation
Literacy-based activities and storytelling
Hands-on cooking experiences
Nutrition and healthy living discussions
Opportunities for family bonding and creativity

Every session encourages children and adults to learn side-by-side while building confidence in reading, communication, teamwork, and healthy habits.

Blueberry Chocolate Chip Parfait

Families will create a delicious parfait while exploring literacy activities centered around healthy foods and fun storytelling.

Saturday, July 11 | 11:00 AM – Noon

Fruit Face Plate

Children and families will turn fresh fruit into edible works of art while enjoying engaging reading activities, laughter, and music.

Saturday, August 1 | 11:00 AM – Noon

Lively Lemon Water & Homemade Ice Cream

The summer series wraps up with refreshing treats, joyful family interaction, and hands-on literacy learning everyone can enjoy.
